Elliot's primary manipulator claws are made of stainless steel and each contain 77 moving parts. Powered mostly by hydraulics, they require very little wiring yet command an awesome crushing and cutting power, roughly equal to the bite of an adult Rottweiler. They're also capable of finer manipulation though thanks to a set of 3 triple jointed phalanges housed inside the upper gripping claw (Not visible in this episode).

Count Orlok on the other hand, no pun intended, has simply not cut his fingernails since 1789.
